Smart Cities Week is hitting the streets of DC, Maryland, and Virginia to tour some of the region’s cutting-edge smart city projects first-hand.

Monday, September 30
Cost: $50 (Limited to the first 30 participants to register)
Take a visit to Seat Pleasant, Maryland, A Smart City of Excellence, in Prince George’s County, to see a small and smart city in action. Learn about the city’s smart operations systems, its in-home health program for seniors, and visit the Command Center to see how all city operations come together in a single system coined “the shared services hub”.
You’ll also learn about the city’s practical approach and process to smart city transformation that any municipality, regardless of size, can take to begin their own smart city transformation.

Visit DC Water’s Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant–the largest plant of its kind in the world–averaging 384 million treated gallons per day and over one billion gallons per day at peak flow. Learn about DC Water’s industry-leading innovations including extraction and reuse of biosolids and digesters that generate one-third of the facility’s energy requirements.
Please Note: A current government-issued photo ID will be required to access the facility. Long pants and closed toe shoes are also required.

Spend an hour touring the Anacostia River while learning about both the ecology as well as land use, develop trends and infrastructure along DC’s waterways. The Anacostia Riverkeeper will lead this engaging experience.
