Derek Konofalski is the Data and Technology Analyst for Gilbert, Arizona. As part of the Office of Digital Government, the PRSA’s Communications Team of the Year, Derek leads Gilbert’s technology engagement efforts through programs like SPARK App League (https://sparkappleague.com), a civic-focused coding program for Junior High and High School students run in partnership with Arizona State University and Waymo, and Gilbert’s Open Data program, which includes an award-winning data avatar named Alex (https://alex.gilbertaz.gov). He is also a part of the Arizona Data Coalition (AZDC) and a producer for the Government Gone Digital podcast. Prior to working in the public sector, he has worked as a web developer, UX designer, digital design lead, and lead creative for companies like Apple, U-Haul, and GoDaddy.
