Elias Martinson

GIS Coordinator, City of Manhattan, KS

Elias Martinson is the GIS Coordinator for the City of Manhattan, Kansas, where he has worked for nine years. A little over a year ago, he gathered a group of colleagues to start a smart city group. Since then, the group has grown to include fifteen members, representing five departments and eight divisions, and is currently working on a strategic plan.

The City Readiness Hub sessions are unscripted mentoring sessions that allow one city to receive targeted advice from smart city practitioners in another city that is further along the path to creating more livable, workable, and sustainable communities.
This session features Manhattan, KS and Racine, WI. Both cities have identified Digital City ServicesPublic Safety, and Transportation as their first priorities in developing a smart city. They will talk through some of the common challenges and success stories each has faced in on-boarding smart city projects in these areas.
