Pete Westlake

Manager, Strategic Customer Programs, Orlando Utility Commission

Pete is the Manager of Strategic Customer Programs, Finance and Contracts.  He launches new strategic programs and initiatives at OUC and manages the budget and contracts for Customer Operations at Orlando Utilities Commission.  OUC is a vertically integrated Municipality that serves Electricity and Water to Orlando, parts of Orange and Osceola counties. Pete is the Program Manager for Smart Cities initiatives, Beneficial Electrification including transportation and Low Income programs.  Pete on the board for Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) and serves as the chairperson for the Transportation Committee. Pete serves on the local chapter board for USGBC Central Florida. Pete has extensive experience in project management in all forms of project delivery. His experience covers a wide variety of industries and primarily in technology with project and program management. Pete is Black Belt trained and has experience with large complex process improvement and management. 

Pete holds a Bachelors of Computer Science and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Organizational Development.

The City Readiness Hub sessions are unscripted mentoring sessions that allow one city to receive targeted advice from smart city practitioners in another city that is further along the path to creating more livable, workable, and sustainable communities. This session features Baltimore, MD and Orlando, FL. Both cities have identified Public Safety and Digital City Services as priorities in developing a smart city. They will talk through some of the common challenges and success stories each has faced in on-boarding smart city projects in these areas.

Smart Cities are about people but most often require technological capability to enable the innovations that improve public safety, transportation, sustainability and other key sectors. This session will look at the emerging technologies such as: The Internet of Things, 5G, SmartPoles, and Video Analytics that are crucial to digital transformation.
