Zach Birmingham

Senior Environmental Specialist, Port of San Diego

Zach Birmingham is a Senior Environmental Specialist with the Port of San Diego’s Energy Team. His portfolio includes clean transportation, energy efficiency and smart technology. After an early career at sea, he started with the Port in 2011, and his current projects include intelligent lighting, electric vehicle charging, managing the Port “Green Marine” sustainability reporting and vessel speed reduction. Zach is also a member of the core leadership group for the San Diego Regional Smart Cities initiative. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies and Maritime Affairs from California State University, Maritime Academy, and a Master of Advanced Study in International Affairs from the School of Global Policy and Strategy at the University of California San Diego.
